A Pefferlaw man who was initially stopped for speeding has been charged with impaired driving.
According to police, officers stopped a pickup truck for speeding shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday (May 18).
“The suspect was driving at 160 km/hour in a posted 80 km/hour zone on Regional Road 57 near Byers Road in Scugog,” reads a media release from police.
“The suspect, who was operating a rental vehicle, was arrested for impaired driving. The vehicle was seized for 180 days.“
Nathan Collins, 33, of Centre Road in Pefferlaw has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol; exceed 80mg; operate a conveyance while prohibited; stunt driving and speeding.
He was released on a promise to appear.
