Nominations now open for Lodwick Citizenship Award

It’s time once again to celebrate Beaverton’s community leaders.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Harold Lodwick Citizenship Award, which is designed to recognize a volunteer’s contribution to the community.

It’s named after the former municipal councillor and tireless community champion who died in May 2008.

Those looking to nominate someone for the award are asked to send a brief description of the nominee, including their volunteer and community accomplishments, to the Beaverton Special Events Committee at P.O. Box 125, Beaverton Ontario, L0K 1A0. The deadline for entries is June 1.

Nominees must:
– be a resident of Beaverton or surrounding area; and,
– be recognized as a volunteer with multiple organizations and/or events;
– be a person who promotes and encourages citizenship and stewardship for the community of Beaverton.

The winner will be announced during the opening ceremonies for the Canada Day celebrations in Beaverton on July 1 and will receive a financial endowment to donate to the charity of their choice. Qualifying recipients of the funds include any recognized local community social club and religious group or chapters of a provincial or national organization that has local membership.
