The body of one person was recovered from the garage of a home in the Kirkfield area that caught on fire Sunday (April 28) night.

According to the OPP, emergency personnel were called to the scene around 10:15 p.m.

“Upon police arrival, the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Through investigation it was determined that a person was unaccounted for,” reads a media release from police.

“With the assistance of the OPP’s Canine Unit and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal human remains were discovered on April 29, 2019 at the scene. The remains have been sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is continuing.”
