McCaskill’s Mills students sing national anthem at Harlem Globetrotters game

Students from McCaskill’s Mills Public School in Cannington got a chance in the spotlight Sunday (April 14) at a Harlem Globetrotters game in Oshawa.

More than 50 of the school’s band and choir members performed the national anthem as the world-famous basketball squad hit the court at the Tribute Communities Centre.

“We also used this as a fundraiser opportunity for our music program. We were able to sell 210 tickets to our school community and raise over $3000,” said teacher Lindsay Bauer.

“It was a fantastic afternoon. The students even had an opportunity to be in the tunnel as the Globetrotters came out and give them high fives.”

Bauer said the performance wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the many families who took part and purchased tickets.

“We hope to do this again in future years. Great family event! The students did a fantastic job representing their school and community.

Photos of the students performance were shared on social media by the Tribute Communities Centre.
