Brock Township has burned through nearly 90 percent of its winter control budget following the stormy start to 2019.
That figure was included in a report from Treasurer Laura Barta that was on the agenda for Monday’s meeting of the finance committee.
It notes that 86 percent of the overall budget for the year has been spent over the first three months of the year, though Barta noted that some additional expenses have not yet been tallied up.
“Those numbers will be even higher,” she told members of council.
“We had a number of significant (weather) events.”
If there’s similar weather at the tail end of the year, Regional Councillor Ted Smith noted that the municipality will almost certainly run over budget.
Should that occur, staff would utilize reserves to finance any overruns.
