The DRPS has launched a homicide investigation following a shooting in Pickering early this morning.
While few details have been released, a social media post indicates that officers responded to a report of gunshots at the Pickering Recreation Centre.
“One male located with obvious signs of trauma. Male was pronounced dead on way to trauma center,” the post reads.
A follow-up post notes that officers will be searching the area and utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, more commonly known as a drone) to collect evidence from above.
“The scene has been cordoned off and it’s rather large. Homicide investigators investigating this as (the) third homicide in Durham Region for 2019.”
