The 24th annual Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival is set for this weekend.
Some of the highlights of Saturday’s (April 6) schedule include an outdoor petting zoo (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), a pizza-eating contest (11:30 a.m.), the ever-popular bathtub races (12:30 p.m.) and performances by Cobbler Jay on River Street throughout the day.
Sunday (April 7) will feature displays and demonstrations from Zoo to You (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), a lawn-tractor pull (11:30 a.m.) by 4-H Ontario and a pancake-eating contest (12:30 p.m.).
Pancake breakfasts run both days at the Legion branch (from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) in addition to other attractions, including an outdoor market on River Street, arts and crafts vendors at the public school, a fine art show at the Town Hall and Legion, horse-drawn wagon rides through the village, pony rides at the park as well as bus tours to Harlaine Maple, Salem Alpacas and a local dairy farm.
