The fifth class of inductees joining the Brock Sports Hall of Fame has been announced.
As revealed Friday (March 22), the 2019 inductees include Graydon Hogg in the Coach category, Newton Reed in the Volunteer category and the Sunderland Tigers baseball Club of 1935 in the category of Athlete or Team.
The annual induction ceremony will be held during the Breakfast of Champions celebrations at the Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre running from 9 to 11 a.m. on April 13.
Last year, NHL veteran and Beaverton native Basil McRae headlined the class of inductees, which also included George Ranich (coach), Bob Mitchell (volunteer) and members of the Beaverton senior women’s baseball team.
Previous inductees to the Brock Sports Hall of Fame include NHL great Rick MacLeish, Olympic equestrienne Jessica Phoenix, Ross ‘Foxy’ Jewell, Ron Woitzik, Bill Hewitt, Dale St. John, Merlyn Doble, members of the Sunderland Tigers ladies fastball team (1966-1978), as well as the founders of Sunderland ringette and the Sunderland Skating Club.
