The Brock Atom Wild will be looking for a pair of wins this weekend to advance to the OMHA finals.
The Wild are down 2-1 in its semifinal series against Wingham after the teams split a pair of games on Saturday (March 2) and Sunday.
Having dropped the series opener on Feb. 24, Brock battled back to tie the series with a 4-3 win in Beaverton in Game 2. Unfortunately, the local club couldn’t take control of the series the following day, losing 4-2 on home ice.
“Although we would have liked to win both home games this past weekend, we got the split. The kids played extremely hard and I thought they deserved a better fate on Sunday,” said Coach Scott MacLeish.
“We understand the pressure to win two games in Wingham now, but I feel the best of our first three games was in their barn for Game 1. These boys are competitors and I know they’ll leave it all on the ice this weekend to bring home a series win.”
The series will resume on Saturday (March 9) in Wingham at 2 p.m. with Game 5, if required, slated for Sunday at 3 p.m.
Should the next two games result in a Wild victory and a draw, Game 6 in the series will be held Monday (March 11) in Beaverton at 7 p.m.
The winner of the series will advance to the championship finals against Lambton following its series sweep against Aylmer.
