Whitby man charged with murder

An 18-year-old man from Whitby has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of an Oshawa man last night.

Police were called to a Langford Street home around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 27) regarding a male with life-threatening injuries.

“Officers arrived and discovered the male with obvious signs of trauma. The male was pronounced dead at the scene,” reads a media release from the DRPS.

The victim has been identified as Ahmed Buttu, 21, and a post mortem is now being scheduled to determine the cause of death.

On Thursday (Feb. 28), investigators charged Mohammad Khan of Burns Street East in Whitby with second degree murder. He was held for a bail hearing.

Police do not believe that this was a random act.
