Pickering man charged after allegedly videotaping women at the Oshawa Centre

A Pickering man is facing a total of six charges after several women were secretly videotaped while shopping at the Oshawa Centre.

According to police, a man was seen recording video on his cellphone of several women in their 20s walking together in the mall on Feb. 14. A concerned female shopper alerted the females, who were unaware this was happening behind them.

“They confronted the male, who appeared to be taking videos of their buttocks with the camera. The male erased the videos after being confronted and then fled out of the mall to a vehicle in the parking lot. At least one female followed him and took photographs in an effort to identify him,” reads a media release from the DRPS.

Kevin Whyte, 53, has been charged with five counts of voyeurism and a single count of criminal harassment. He was released on a promise to appear.

Police are looking to speak with three women who may have been recorded at the Oshawa Centre between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. Their descriptions are as follows:

– Female, white, with dark hair wearing a striped dark and white sweater, red skirt, black shoes, and carrying a purse;

– Female, black, with dark hair talking on a cell phone, wearing a yellow jacket, black and white top, black pants and black shoes; and,

– Female, white, with dark hair, wearing a black jacket, shorts, long stockings, and dark and white shoes.

Police would also like any witnesses to come forward.
