Anglers from around Lake Simcoe and beyond are gearing up for the Beaverton Legion’s annual ice fishing derby.
The event runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 16 and wraps up with fish fry dinner at the Legion branch at 6 p.m.
Adult tickets cost $20 and are available at Simcoe Outdoors, Dave’s Fish Huts, Mitchell’s Fish Huts, Tim Hales Fish Huts, DW and Sons Bait and Tackle, Floyd Hales Fish Huts, Casey’s Fish Huts, Beaverton River Bait Shop, True Canadian Outdoors and Kyle’s Bait and Tackle. Admission costs only $5 for children aged five to 10, while there’s no charge for those younger than that age range.
Take-out fish dinners are also available at a cost of $10.
All proceeds will support the Legion’s programs for veterans and fund youth sports activities within the community.
