A fifth class of inductees will soon be joining the Brock Sports Hall of Fame.
The Township has issued a call for nominations, which are open to athletes, teams, coaches and volunteers that have made a significant contribution to the sports community for an extended period of time.
Athletes, teams and coaches that have won an individual medal at any Canadian or international competition will be selected automatically.
Last year, NHL veteran and Beaverton native Basil McRae headlined the class of inductees, which also included George Ranich (coach), Bob Mitchell (volunteer) and members of the Beaverton senior women’s baseball team.
Previous inductees to the Brock Sports Hall of Fame include NHL great Rick MacLeish, Olympic equestrienne Jessica Phoenix, Ross ‘Foxy’ Jewell, Ron Woitzik, Bill Hewitt, Dale St. John, Merlyn Doble, members of the Sunderland Tigers ladies fastball team (1966-1978), as well as the founders of Sunderland ringette and the Sunderland Skating Club.
Online nomination forms are available HERE and must be submitted by March 1.
This year’s crop of inductees will be honoured, along with some of the most dedicated sports volunteers in the township, during the annual Breakfast of Champions in April.
