Police say the 22-year-old male involved in Tuesday’s (Jan. 29) collision on Durham Regional Highway 47 remains in critical condition as of this morning.
Shortly after noon Tuesday, Durham Regional Police were called to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Durham Regional Highway 47, east of Owen Road in the Township of Uxbridge. According to police, a white Ford Focus, travelling westbound lost control and was struck by an eastbound red Hyundai Elantra.
First responders attended the scene and provided medical assistance to both drivers of the vehicles. The 25-year-old female driver of the Hyundai Elantra was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 22-year-old male driver of the Ford Focus was also taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to a Toronto area trauma hospital. As of Wednesday (Jan. 30) morning, the male is still in critical condition according to police.
The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected for an investigation.
