Video: Police seek witnesses after car crashes into Courtice Community Complex pool

A woman has been charged and police are looking for witnesses after a vehicle was driven into the Courtice Community Complex pool last week.

On Jan. 25, shortly after 8:40 a.m., police responded to the complex after receiving reports that a vehicle had driven in the building and ended up in the children’s pool.

“Officers arrived and located a small red vehicle in the children’s pool. Officers and EMS assisted in removing the 36-year-old female from the vehicle; she was the lone occupant and wasn’t hurt. No one else was in the pool at the time,” read a media release from Durham Regional Police.

On Jan. 29, police released video footage of the incident.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Community Complex pool, either inside or in the parking lot, at the time of the incident.  Any witnesses are asked to contact police.

A 36-year-old woman is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Mischief/Damage to Property Endangering Life and Mischief/Damage to Property over $5,000. She was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and was held for a bail hearing.
