A 94-year-old Toronto man was killed in an accident on Highway 12 in Scugog Township Sunday (Jan. 27) night.
While few details have been released, the accident occurred around 8 p.m. between the 3rd and 4th lines.
According to Sergeant Kerry Schmidt, the man’s vehicle – which was heading north – crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound transport truck.
“Driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, the truck driver was not injured,” Schmidt wrote in a social media post, noting that the truck was loaded with scrap metal and rolled into the ditch.
The highway was closed for several hours for the police investigation and re-opened just before 5:30 a.m. Monday.
