The Region is getting ready to build a roundabout at Lake Ridge Road and Regional Road 12.
The intersection is currently controlled by stop signs for vehicles traveling east into Wilfrid and west into Pefferlaw (via York Regional Road 21) but will be converted to a single-lane roundabout.
“The roundabout will include re-alignment of all four approaches to the intersection, illumination, concrete curb and gutter, median islands and central island landscaping,” reads a notice from the Region.
A staged closure of Lake Ridge Road at the intersection will be required. The north and south approaches of Lake Ridge Road will be closed one at a time, for approximately four months.
“During these road closures residents will be able to utilize local roads around the intersection, while the through traffic will be diverted through signed detour routes on adjacent regional roads and provincial highways. The staged closures will expedite the construction schedule, maintain a safe work zone for the workers and protect the safety of road users,” the notice reads.
Construction for this project is scheduled to start in the spring with completion in the fall.
“As these dates are subject to change, a second notice will be issued to confirm the construction start date, road closures and to provide contact information for Regional representatives,” the notice reads.
“The Region realizes that the work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
