Members of Brock Township council will get their first crack at the 2019 budget later this month.
The first draft will be presented to members during a special session of the finance committee on Thursday (Jan. 24) at 9 a.m.
“There are many considerations to review in this budget and members of council must balance their spending wishes with the burden on the Brock taxpayers,” wrote Ward 3 Councillor Walter Schummer, who also serves as chair of the Township’s finance committee.
He also urged his colleagues to question some of the figures proposed by staff.
Referencing the budget deliberations at Monday (Jan. 7) night’s council meeting, Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden said that 2019 would be “brand new territory for council.”
The Township has released a budget information package as part of its continuing efforts to increase ratepayers’ understanding of and participation in the process.
