A police chase that started in Oshawa and went into Whitby ended with a litany of charges for a Scugog Township man.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Taunton Road East and Thornton Road North for a possible impaired driver around 9:30 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 7)
“The suspect was operating a burgundy Buick at a high rate of speed and was observed swerving all over the roadway. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The suspect failed to stop for police and started to evade police by driving faster and going into oncoming lanes,” reads a media release from the DRPS.
“The suspect vehicle eventually collided with a white Jeep Cherokee at Thickson Road just south of Dundas Street East in Whitby. The suspect then fled on foot, but was located by officers and arrested.”
The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries, police say.
Beau Jolicoeur, 36, has been charged with three counts of drive while under suspension, two counts operate a motor vehicle while prohibited, as well as a single count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop for police and leave accident/fail to assist, use plate not for vehicle.
He was held for a bail hearing.
