DRPS heading ‘In the Zone’ for traffic safety blitz

As students prepare to head back to class following the holiday break, DRPS officers are getting ready for a traffic safety blitz.

Dubbed ‘In the Zone,’ the zero-tolerance enforcement campaign will target school and community safety zones during the week from Monday to Friday (Jan. 7 to 11).

Last year, more than 1,000 traffic tickets were issued during this blitz, which included 667 tickets for speeding and eight charges of distracted driving.

“The goal of this annual ‘In the Zone’ enforcement campaign is to ensure high officer visibility and proactive enforcement in and around school zones during the first week back to school,” reads a media release.
