An Olympian and an author will be joining Grade 8 students from across the township at Brock High School next week to learn about maintaining positive mental health.
Jessica Phoenix and Julie Fitz-Gerald will discuss resilience and perseverance in the face of injury, stress, anxiety and depression during the workshop next Wednesday (Dec. 19) morning.
It’s being held as part of a student-run initiative at the high school.
“Six students will demonstrate performance skills that help them to overcome stress, anxiety and depression in their everyday lives. Their goal is to inspire students, staff and the visiting Grade 8 students so that they can leverage their own ‘skills’ to reinforce their personal positive mental health,” reads a media release from the Durham District School Board.
