Santa Claus parade set for Saturday in Cannington

Santa Claus is getting ready to make his stop in Cannington.

The village’s Lions Club will host its 71st annual Santa Claus parade this Saturday (Nov. 24) at 11 a.m. with the theme of ‘A Sport’n Christmas.’

As always, parade marshalling takes place at Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre parking lot and participants are asked to arrive by 10:30 a.m. A number of awards will be up for grabs for participants.

After the parade, Santa will be stopping by the village’s fire hall to meet with his fans.

For more information on the parade, or to register, call 705-432-3241 or send an email to parade@canningtonlionsclub.ca

To help welcome Santa Claus to town and get residents in the Christmas spirit, the Nourish Community Hub will host parade day warming centre from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring a number of holiday activities. They include workshops on cookie-decorating, table-setting and napkin-folding, as well as light refreshments and hot cocoa.
