Social media campaign launches in support of food bank

Organizers of a donation campaign through social media are hoping to generate a holiday haul for the Brock Community Food Bank.

Adeline Khoo Pettit, PeggyLee McLean and Colin Theodoru – the administrators of Facebook pages Brock Ultimate Deals and Beaverton Treasure Finds – are once again calling on the community’s support in collecting donations leading into the holiday season.

Last year’s campaign resulted in a donation of 1,544 items and nearly $2,000 to the food bank.

“We’d like to thank residents and businesses for their past active participation, commitment and positive energies in always making our Christmas drives an astounding success,” Petit wrote.

“We are now asking again to raise monies for our local food bank – cash donations as requested by food bank, food items, pet and baby supplies. Anything that would benefit and help fill our food bank’s shelves during the Christmas holiday season.”

Both of the pages will be running fundraising auctions on donated items over the next few weeks.

“Your time, effort, donations, auctions, generous bidding and on-time pick-ups all contribute to helping our local food bank and Community,” Petit wrote.
