Brock Township firefighters aided in the search for a missing fisherman on Lake Scugog.
A small crew manned the department’s marine vessel for most of the day Tuesday (Oct. 16) searching for the man, who went missing around 5:30 p.m. a day prior.
On Monday (Oct. 15), at approximately 5:20 p.m., emergency services were called to Centre Road and Crozier Lane on Scugog Island for a boater in distress.
Durham Regional Police say it was reported the 31-year-old Toronto fisherman was out alone in his canoe at the time when it capsized. Witnesses found the empty canoe and contacted police. Members of North Division, along with the marine unit and Air1, attempted to locate the male on Monday night with no success, with the search ongoing by the Scugog Fire Department, along with Durham and York police.
The missing boater is believed to be Phong Vu, age 31, of Toronto.
