Police recover racing helmets stolen in 2014 from Uxbridge teen with special needs

Two go-kart helmets belonging to a 15-year-old Uxbridge boy with special needs have been returned to their rightful owner after being stolen back in 2014.

On Monday (Oct. 1), officers were approached by the teenaged victim who advised them that he had located the two helmets, which were being sold on the internet that had been stolen from a storage facility more than four years ago.

Police say they were able to retrieve the stolen items from a residence in Barrie.  The seller told police that he didn’t know that the items were stolen when he purchased them in 2014 and wanted the property to be returned to the rightful owner.

The victim’s family was very thankful for the return of the helmets, which carried sentimental value.
