A section of Regional Road 51 (also known as Ramara Road 51) will be closed for the better part of the next year due to a bridge replacement.
Durham Region, in partnership with the County of Simcoe, has awarded a contract for the replacement of the Gamebridge bridge over the Talbot River.
Work was expected to get underway today (Oct. 1) with the road closure starting Oct. 9.
“The contractor is expected to complete the project by the end of summer 2019. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule,” reads a notice from Durham Region.
The road will be closed between Regional Road 50 and Concession Road A with motorists using Highway 12 as the detour route.
Residents living along the affected stretch will still be able to access their homes.
“The Region and the County realize that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible,” the notice concludes.
