Motorcyclists seriously injured in accident involving deer

Two motorcyclists were seriously injured after their motorcycle hit a deer in Scugog last night.

According to the DRPS, the accident occured around 7:45 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 16) near Cartwright West Quarter Line and Church Street.

The driver was northbound on Cartwright West Quarter Line past Church Street when a deer crossed the roadway striking the motorcycle, which then veered off the roadway and ended up in the west side ditch.

The driver was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma center while the passenger was taken to a trauma center via ambulance. Both are from Whitby, according to police. Both are 52 years of age and hail from Whitby.

The road was closed for several hours for the police investigation.
