Speed and alcohol may have been factors in fatal crash in Uxbridge
Police believe that speed and alcohol may have been factors in an accident that led to the death of a 45-year-old Uxbridge man early this morning.
According to the DRPS, the accident occured shortly after midnight on Thursday (Aug. 23) at the intersection at Toronto Street South and Campbell Drive. A four-door red Nissan was travelling south on Toronto Street when it mounted the curb and struck a light standard on the east side of the intersection.
The accident occured right in front of Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and medical personnel came out to assist. The driver was taken into the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The roadway was closed for several hours for a police investigation.
The name of the victim has not been released.
