Kawartha Lakes man arrested for classic car thefts

A Kawartha Lakes man is facing charges after officers allegedly found him sleeping in a stolen tow truck in Oshawa.

According to police, officers found a stolen tow truck parked in a lot by Cedar Street and Wentworth Street West in Oshawa on Monday (Aug. 6). The suspect was found sleeping in the truck and was arrested. The tow truck was allegedly towing a stolen Cadillac.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was involved in the theft of the two stolen collectible vehicles from a Port Perry-area auto business, according to police.

Investigators are still looking to recover the two collectable vehicles stolen on Thursday, Aug 2, according to police.

George Maxwell, age 47 of Balsam Lake Road in the City of Kawartha Lakes was charged with: Theft of Motor Vehicle x3; Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 x4; Drive Disqualified x3 and Breach Probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
