Accused killer of Josh Elliott pleads guilty to manslaughter
A Toronto man has plead guilty to manslaughter in the death of Josh Elliott of Cannington.
Court officials have confirmed Lucas Bovell, who had been charged with second degree murder, plead guilty to manslaughter on Thursday, July 19.
Elliott was killed May 26, 2017 following an incident in the area of Mara Road and Dundas Street in Beaverton.
Officers were called to a “disturbance among several men” in the village around 10:30 p.m. and found Elliott collapsed on Dundas Street. He was rushed to Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia but succumbed to his injuries.
Police say a post-mortem indicated the cause of death was a stab wound.
Shortly after the incident, police say information was received about a second male suffering from a stab wound. Officers in the area were able to locate a 35-year-old male who sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police have offered no update on his condition.
James Glen, 20, of Beaverton was charged with aggravated assault in connection to the May 26 incident. According to court officials, Glen is expected to proceed to trial on June 10, 2019.
