Mississauga man charged after dog allegedly assaulted in Bowmanville
A 23-year-old man from Mississauga is charged with cruelty to an animal after reportedly assaulting a dog on a highway off-ramp in Bowmanville.
On Monday (July 2), at approximately 8:20 p.m., Durham Regional Police were dispatched to complaint in the area of Bennett Road and the Highway 401 off-ramp in Bowmanville. Citizens reportedly stopped to aid a golden retriever dog after they saw the suspect allegedly assaulting the dog on the side of the roadway. Police arrived and found the dog with life-threatening injuries. The dog was taken to an emergency animal clinic. The suspect was arrested and charged.
Jonathan Dunbar, 23, of Mississauga was charged with Cruelty to Animal. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
