Video: Newfoundland man charged after allegedly driving impaired in Sunderland
A 33-year-old man faces impaired charges after police helicopter Air1 spotted a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in Sunderland last Tuesday (June 5) evening.
At approximately 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers from North Division of Durham Regional Police responded to the area of Highway 12 in Sunderland after numerous calls from citizens advising of an impaired driver in that area.
Air1 spotted the vehicle travelling northbound at speeds in excess of 150 km/hr in Sunderland. Air1 relayed the position and speeds of the suspect vehicle and officers were able to safely stop the vehicle and the driver was taken into custody.

Michael Bursey, 33, of Newfoundland is charged with: Impaired Operation; Exceed 80mgs and Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
