DRPS

A man wanted for allegedly breaching his conditions remains at large, despite a heavy police presence in Beaverton throughout the weekend.

While information officially released by police remains scarce, Durham Regional Police say the man breached his conditions and officers have been trying to locate him to effect the arrest.

“We are still looking for him,” said a representative from the DRPS, in an email to The Brock Voice on Monday (June 11) morning.

The representative also stated “there was never a threat to the safety of the community”.

Area residents reported seeing a number of police cruisers, the K9 unit as well as the helicopter on Friday and Saturday nights.

Police have not released the name of the individual involved or confirmed whether any charges have been laid. Once the man is in custody, police say they will be able to release the details.

A report posted to CrimeReports.com indicates there was a Level 2 assault on an officer on the 300 block of Simcoe Street, Beaverton at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday (June 9).
