Beaverton woman charged after allegedly allowing 3-year-old to steer vehicle

A 33-year-old Beaverton mother is charged after she reportedly drove her vehicle on the highway with her three-year-old daughter on her lap, allowing her to steer the vehicle.

On May 31, investigators from North Division were advised that several videos were posted on social media showing a female driving on different occasions on a highway at a high rate of speed with her three-year-old daughter in her lap steering the vehicle. The suspect filmed the event on her cellphone and neither of them had any seat belts or safety restraints. Police were able to identify the suspect. She was arrested and faces numerous charges. CAS is aware of the incident.

A 33-year-old female from Beaverton was charged with two counts of Parent not Providing Necessities of Life; two counts of Careless Driving; two counts of Driver Fail to Wear Seatbelt; two counts of Drive While Child Passenger not Properly Secured and Drive – Handheld Communications Device. She was released on a Promise to Appear.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the child.
