The Brock Community Health Centre is helping local teens look their best for prom by arranging transportation to a pair of events coming up in Oshawa next week.
Now in its fifth year, the Gowns for Girls program organized by the Durham Regional Police Service provides young girls with dresses and accessories for prom.
“Many do not have the economic resources to attend as some dresses can cost upwards of $700. Additional expenses are then required for shoes, hair services and accessories,” the DRPS noted in a media release.
“In addition to Gowns for Girls, a separate event is taking place in co-operation with the Oshawa Centre. Suits for Youths will outfit young people with suits, ties and other accessories they can use for both prom and for job interviews when school is finished.”
Both events run from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday (April 18 and 19). Gowns for Girls will be held at Bobby Orr Public School, while Suits for Youths will be held at the Oshawa Centre.
Students looking for transportation to either event and asked to call the Brock Community Health Centre at 705-432-3322.
