Area MPP endorses Christine Elliott as new Progressive Conservative leader
Area MPP Laurie Scott is backing Christine Elliott’s bid to land leadership of the Progressive Conservative party ahead of June’s provincial election.
Elliott recently shared a post on social media featuring an endorsement from the representative for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock.
“Our objective is clear – we must defeat Kathleen Wynne in this fast-approaching provincial election, for the sake of all Ontarians,” the quote attributed to Scott reads.
“Christine Elliott has the experience and reach to bring us together quickly and to move us forward. Being united matters more than ever; we need to be ready now.”
“Thank you for your support and kind words,” Elliott wrote in response.
“We must provide voters with a strong Progressive Conservative Leader. Together, I know we can bring change to Ontario in June.”
Other candidates seeking the leadership include Caroline Mulroney, Doug Ford, and Tonya Granic Allen.
Voting for the near Progressive Conservative party leader begins March 2 and the results will be announced on March 10.
Scott will be seeking re-election in the June 7 provincial vote. The Liberals and NDP have yet to select a candidate.
