A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection to the break-in at the Beaverton Legion last week.
Durham Regional Police have confirmed they responded to the break-in at the Legion around 5 a.m. on Feb. 21. Justin King of Beaverton was arrested at the scene and charged with break and enter.
The accused was released on a promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in court in Oshawa on March 22.
Following the break-in, the branch closed for the police investigation, reopening the following day. On Friday (Feb. 23), via social media, members of the Legion confirmed the arrest.
“We thank everyone for their messages, support and offers of help, it means a lot to us.”
They also stated no historical items or memorabilia were stolen or damaged.
