Nominations open for Brock Sports Hall of Fame

A fourth class of inductees will soon be joining the Brock Sports Hall of Fame.

The Township has issued a call for nominations, which are open to athletes,  teams, coaches and volunteers that have made a significant contribution to the  sports community for an extended period of time.

Athletes, teams and coaches that have won an individual medal at any Canadian or international competition will be selected automatically.

Online nomination forms are available here and must be submitted by March 2.

The Class of 2017 included Cannington native and NHL great Rick MacLeish, Paul McRae, Ross ‘Foxy’ Jewell and the founding members of the Sunderland Skating Club.

They joined Olympic equestrienne Jessica Phoenix, members of the Sunderland Tigers ladies fastball team (1966-1978), Ron Woitzik, Bill Hewitt, Dale St. John, Merlyn Doble, and the founders of Sunderland ringette (June Moody, Denise Marsh, Pat Diceman and Bonnie Teefy).

This year’s crop of inductees will be honoured, along with some of the most dedicated sports volunteers in the township, during the fourth annual Breakfast of Champions event on April 21 at the Sunderland Town Hall.
