Little Britain man airlifted following fatal accident

A Newmarket woman was killed and a Little Britain man suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Whitchurch-Stouffville yesterday (Jan. 8).

According to the York Regional Police, the accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Stouffville Road, near Highway 404 and involved a silver Hyundai SUV and a Volkswagen Jetta.

Police say the driver of the Hyundai, a 29-year-old woman from Newmarket, was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jetta, a 31-year-old man from Little Britain, was airlifted to hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and police have made an appeal for additional witnesses to come forward.

This is the latest in a string of collisions in and around Brock Township. Police continue to urge safe driving.
