
An 84-year-old Toronto man was killed in an accident on Regional Road 23 south of Beaverton on Thursday night (Jan. 4).
According to the Durham Regional Police, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 6:15 p.m., just north of Concession 2 Thorah.
Police say a minivan being driven by a 44-year-old Cannington man was traveling south on Regional Road 23 when it was struck by a northbound Honda driven by the man from Toronto.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the minivan suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a trauma centre in the Toronto area.
The road was closed for several hours for a police investigation and reopened shortly after midnight.
