
More than 2,000 vehicles were stopped during Durham Regional Police Service’s fifth week of the Festive RIDE campaign.
Police say 15 people were charged with drinking and driving offences during the past week. This brings this year’s total to 87, four more than the 83 charged at this time during the 2016 campaign.
The fifth week of the DRPS Festive RIDE included checks in Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Port Perry, Uxbridge, Brougham and Clarington.
Here are the numbers for the week, in addition to the 15 drinking and driving charges, as released by police:
- 2,335 vehicles stopped
- 78 people given roadside breath tests
- 12 people received three-day suspensions for registering a warn
- 20 Criminal Code charges
- One G1 G2/Young Driver licence holder breaches of no alcohol condition
- 26 charged with various Highway Traffic Act offences
- 2 drug offences
