Thank you for a successful six months

It’s been six months since we launched The Brock Voice. And not only are we still here, we’re only getting stronger. For that, we need to thank you, our loyal readers.

On May 29, 2017, we published our first news story (Police investigating death of 21-year-old man in Beaverton) and ever since, we’ve seen nothing but support from the members of the Brock community. Not only have you followed along as we’ve delivered Brock Township news, you’ve brought it to our attention and shared it with your friends and family. You’ve given us stories to cover, perspectives to consider and, frankly, a great deal of entertainment. Consciously or not, you have encouraged us to continue down this path of independent community journalism, something our country sorely needs and the community deserves.

Although we’re the ones writing the stories, your involvement cannot be discounted. This may be our business but we sincerely hope you consider us your Voice.

We hope you’ll bare with us a little longer as we take a quick trip down memory lane to look at where we’ve come since that first news article.

Since launching, we’ve published more than 200 posts on TheBrockVoice.com, the most popular of which have been:

We’ve surpassed 1,000 likes on Facebook, with even more ‘followers’, and that number continues to climb each and every week. This is in no small part due to your involvement — when you like, comment or share, it helps tell the rest of the community they can rely on us for timely, accurate news coverage.

Our Facebook community is a big part of what makes The Brock Voice successful, with approximately 75 per cent of our web traffic coming from the social networking site.

In total, TheBrockVoice.com has received more than 100,000 views since we launched. That number is a confirmation, of sorts, that this is what we’re supposed to be doing and that what we’re doing is actually important to the Brock Township community.

To help offset our costs, we’ve partnered with local businesses through advertising and hope to announce a pair of exciting developments during the holiday season and into the new year.

Thank you again for your involvement, your letters, your engagement and your support. Thank you for liking our Facebook page, following us on Twitter and sharing our stories. Thank you for helping us turn our casual blog into a major community news source. We appreciate all of it.

Thank you.

Scott Howard & Jamie Steel,  The Brock Voice
