Stouffville woman dies after collision in Uxbridge

A 23-year-old woman has died after a collision in Uxbridge early Saturday morning (Dec. 2).

According to Durham Regional Police, at approximately 1:35 a.m., members of North Division were called to Durham Road 30 and Aurora Road for the report of a serious motor vehicle collision involving one vehicle.

Witnesses reported a vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed, eastbound on Aurora Road, when it went through the intersection at Durham Road 30 and ran off the road into the side of a hill. Police say the vehicle caught fire upon impact. The 23-year-old Stouffville woman was pronounced at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.
