A tentative agreement between First Student Canada and the union representing its Ajax and Brooklin school bus drivers means service will continue uninterrupted.

“Durham Student Transportation Services (DSTS) has been notified by First Student Canada that Unifor 4268, the union representing First Student Ajax and First Student Brooklin school bus drivers has reached a tentative agreement,” reads a notice posted by DSTS Thursday morning (Nov. 30).

As a result, school bus service will continue uninterrupted for all routes serviced by First Student Ajax and First Student Brooklin.

While Brock Township schools would not have been directly impacted by the strike, local students enrolled in Durham Continuing Secondary Education and those attending schools outside the township (such as Port Perry High School) could have been affected.

“DSTS will continue to monitor First Student and Unifor negotiations. Should there be any updates regarding the tentative agreement, parents/guardians will be notified by automated call and letter notification from the school,” continues the notice.

“We respect and value the work of our First Student bus drivers and are thankful that a tentative agreement has been reached between First Student Canada and Unifor 4268.”
