One of Brock Township’s most active online collectives is calling on the broader community to help fill the gaps at area food banks.
Brock’s Ultimate Deals and Beaverton Treasure Finds, managed by Adeline Khoo Pettit, PeggyLee McLean and Colin Theodoru, are asking their membership to raise funds through online auctions, item donations or cash donations in support of the local food banks.
While the date of Dec. 6 has been set as a cut-off for raising funds, Khoo Pettit says it may be flexible.
Last year, according to a post by Khoo Pettit, the drive resulted in 1.092 items being donated to the food banks. This year, she says they would like to provide essentials such as toiletries and hygiene items.
“We are calling on your support, home and local businesses who can sponsor items for auctions to raise money to purchase these items, or outright item or cash donations if it’s easier for you,” wrote Khoo Pettit, inviting anyone with questions to send her a private message.
She also posted a list of essential items she hopes to provide for the food bank.
It includes:
- Laundry detergent
- Razors
- Deodorant
- Soap/Body wash
- Lotions
- Toothbrushes
- Mouthwash
- Bathroom tissue
- Kleenex/Pocket Tissues
- Feminine hygiene products
- Diapers
- Baby wipes
- Shaving lotions/gels
- Dental floss
Individual members of the Facebook groups are asked to follow the terms, should they wish to hold auctions, and indicate “X’Mas Drive Food Bank” in the heading.
“Every donation will be accounted for, we will take pics & like to thank & acknowledge you for your support,” wrote Khoo Pettit.
