Brock residents can once help spread a bit of Christmas cheer to seniors across the township.
Started by Cannington resident Jennifer Leece in 2012, the Seniors Greetings program aims to distribute hundreds of handmade holiday cards to seniors in Brock Township.
More than a hundred cards were made during a recent workshop and organizers are now hoping that residents can collect some simple art supplies – such as scissors, glue and various forms of paper – to donate.
“It was an amazing turnout. The support for this program has been unbelievable so far,” Leece said.
“If anyone has art supplies that are collecting dust, we’d be happy to take them.”
A card-making workshop for kids is coming on Nov. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nourish Community Hub in Cannington.
While there is no charge to take part, those planning to attend are asked to bring along a non-perishable food item to donate.
Upwards of 30 children have registered so far.
“I’m absolutely thrilled with the response,” Leece said.
All participants will receive an elf hat for helping out and will be treated to special screening of the animated holiday classic ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’
Registration is required as there are limited spots available.
