A man accused of sexually assaulting three children in Beaverton is still in police custody after a fourth consecutive bail hearing was remanded.
Dennis Coles was arrested by the Durham Regional Police on Sept. 28 for allegedly failing to comply with a condition of his release.
Following three appearances earlier this month, he appeared in court via video on Monday (Oct. 16) with the matter rescheduled to Oct. 23.
“It’s unbelievably good news,” said the mother of one of his alleged victims in an interview earlier this month.
“We don’t have to keep looking over our shoulders for a little while.”
Coles was initially charged with sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference in July of 2016 following allegations from the then five-year-old girl.
Two additional victims came forward shortly thereafter and Coles was charged with five other offences during a court appearance in August of 2016.
According to court documents, the initial set of charges involve incidents that allegedly occurred between September 2014 and July of 2015, while the second is related to allegations dating from January 2012 to the end of December 2014.
His trial is set for December.
