Attendees of the Beaverton Fall Fair will have a chance to weigh-in on road safety in Durham Region.

Road safety representatives will be on hand at the fair, inside the curling rink, from 11 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15) through 3:30 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 17) to answer questions about the new Durham Strategic Road Safety Action Plan. Residents will also have the chance to complete a survey about road safety in the area.

In a release Friday, the Region states that despite having an active safety program to address motor vehicle collisions, a new, broader-based approach is required.

“As a result, the Works Department (Traffic Engineering and Operations Division) is developing a Strategic Road Safety Action Plan for the Region,” reads the release.

“The study will set out targets, policies, and action plans to guide the Region and its road safety partners towards creating safer roads and reducing the number of collisions and thus road fatalities and injuries.”
