
Durham Regional Police are investigating after a body part was discovered yesterday evening near the Oshawa Harbour in Lake Ontario.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday (Sept. 11), members of Central East Division responded to Simcoe Street South and Harbour Road in Oshawa after a fisherman found a torso in the water. Officers arrived and secured the scene, confirming that a female torso was recovered.
The Coroner’s office was called and a preliminary examination at the scene identified signs of trauma. A post mortem examination is scheduled for today at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto to determine cause of death.
This morning the Public Safety Unit and the DRPS Marine Unit will be assisting the Homicide Unit in canvassing the area by conducting a grid search looking for further evidence.
