This week marks the first chance for Brock residents to try Durham Region Transit’s new “on demand” routes.
Durham Region Transit (DRT) officially started offering the “demand response” services as of Monday (Sept. 4) and the new transit options in Brock will be available starting Thursday (Sept. 7) and Friday (Sept. 8), depending on where riders want to go.
The “on demand” routes are available between Beaverton and Orillia on Thursdays (Route 653) and between Cannington and Lindsay on Fridays (Route 654). To use the service, residents must call 1-866-247-0055 (and press the number ‘3’) no later than 2 p.m. the day prior.
Tickets and passes can be bought in Brock at the Township office (1 Cameron St. East, Cannington), Flindall’s Freshmart (95 River St., Sunderland), Foodland (35 Cameron St., Cannington), and Independant Grocer (B30 Beaver Ave., Beaverton).
The DRT website also notes “Route 601 first and last trips will now serve Sunderland.”
Route 601 runs between Uxbridge and Lakeview Manor in Beaverton.
